About DMITRE

The new Department for Manufacturing, Innovation, Trade, Resources and Energy (DMITRE) is the South Australian Government’s key agency in driving economic prosperity in this State.

The department will report to the Hon Tom Koutsantonis MP who has been given responsibility for the State Government’s business portfolio as Minister for Manufacturing, Innovation and Trade, Minister for Mineral Resources and Energy and Minister for Small Business.
 

The new department brings together a trade and economic development role with minerals, energy, renewable energy and trade policy.

DMITRE’s work ensures that South Australia takes advantage of our resources growth by fostering local participation in the sector and expanding our innovation and research capability, positively influencing economic value creation.

Through an industry development role, the department aims to ensure South Australia continues to develop high-value manufactured goods, technologies and services, which locally anchor the economic benefits from our major projects for future generations.

Geoff Knight has been appointed to lead the new Department as Chief Executive.
