Product Development Case Studies

In order to grow and sustain their businesses, many SA companies recognise the value of efficiently developing differentiated products.

The Centre For Innovation conducts regular short seminars illustrating proven principles for successful new product development through informative case studies.

Each seminar, conducted over about one hour, features two case studies presented by successful local companies with a relevant story to tell from their actual endeavours in developing and commercialising new products. These sessions also provide a valuable opportunity to meet with other people involved in new product development. The forthcoming series will highlight the practical implementation of specific aspects of new product development including;

  • Developing a competitive advantage through understanding customers, competitors and the market environment.
  • Product development opportunities through Design for Environment (Eco-design).
  • Principals and techniques for design testing and validation.
  • Achieving success through accessing product development services.
  • Keys for successful product launch.

Our aim is that these case study sessions will not only inspire SA companies with the opportunities through product development but also assist them with practical information based upon actual experience.

Value Stream Mapping Workshops

The Centre for Innovation has developed a Lean Program with a structured pathway designed to help implement lean principles. The program aims to ensure that businesses understand the basics of ‘lean’ and are able to move through each stage of implementation based on their own needs and circumstances.

Value Stream Mapping (VSM) is the first stage of the Lean Program and is relevant to all organisations in all industry sectors.
