Adelaide’s renowned expertise in staging international events has won it the rights to stage the mining equipment and technology conference Austmine 2009.
Deputy Premier and Minister for Industry and Trade Kevin Foley and Austmine chairman Alan Broome have announced that Adelaide has won the biennial conference and expo from New South Wales, Queensland, Tasmania and Western Australia.
Tentative dates for the conference, to be staged at the Adelaide Convention Centre, are 30 and 31 March 2009.
Austmine is regarded as a key catalyst in the Australian mining and energy sector’s efforts to demonstrate its world-leading capabilities to the international market.
More than 500 people from countries and regions including India, North America, China, Latin America and Indonesia, as well as Australia, registered to attend the most recent 2007 Austmine conference in Perth.
“Austmine is an important platform from which Australian mining technology and services are promoted to major developers in international markets,” Mr Foley says.
Mr Broome says the support of the Department of Trade and Economic Development was instrumental in the board selecting Adelaide.
