Adelaide Australias best learning environment
Adelaide has a world-class education system from pre-school to
university. This includes a range of child care options, excellent
public schools and affordable private schools (several offering
international baccalaureate curriculum), three outstanding
universities and job-focussed vocational training.
The cost of a private school education is up to 40% lower than in
Sydney and most TAFE courses cost $1,250 a year.

Child Care
Child care options include child care centres, family day care,
early learning programs, occasional care programs, play-centres and
out of school hours care programs/vacation care.
Before and after school care is available in some centres and at
many schools.
Government Schools
Innovative, advanced and diverse curricula are offered in Government
schools and most are co-educational.
The Government does not charge tuition fees. A compulsory school fee
of around $223 for secondary students and $166 for primary students
covers the cost of necessities such as libraries, sporting fees and
books.

Private Schools
The Association of Independent Schools of SA has 96 member schools
with a total enrolment of approximately 39,800 students.

In addition, there are 93 Catholic primary school sites and 30
secondary Catholic schools in South Australia. They are overseen by
the SA Commission for Catholic Schools.

Tertiary Education
Adelaide has four internationally recognised universities, an
extensive vocational training system, a wide range of specialised
tertiary institutions and a highly regarded secondary education
sector.
TAFE SA is South Australia’s largest provider of nationally and internationally recognised vocational education and training (VET). Through a network of 53 campuses across Adelaide and the country regions of South Australia, TAFE SA offers more than 300 courses designed to provide real and relevant work skills. Qualifications are valued highly by workplaces around the world, but they can also provide a pathway into university.
More than 80 per cent of South Australia's TAFE graduates go on to
win employment within six months of graduating - a higher rate than
the national average of 75 per cent.
