An Enviable Lifestyle
Adelaide enjoys one of the highest standards of living anywhere.

Adelaide has been rated as one of the world's top 6 cities in which to live for lifestyle. (Economist Intelligence Unit's Liveability Survey 2007)

This is a place where you can have both a career and a family life. Adelaide is a perfectly sized city of one million people with everything in easy reach of the city centre, the many kilometres of metropolitan beaches, the scenic Adelaide Hills and 400 year-round events.

Adelaide is also an easy gateway to the Outback, the dramatic Flinders Ranges, the natural beauty of Kangaroo Island, the River Murray and the many South Australian vineyards that produce some of the world’s great wines.

The combination of low living costs, affordable housing, great amenities and entertainment events enables Adelaide to offer an enticing mix of great lifestyle and employment options.

Events
Adelaide hosts more than 400 festivals throughout the year. These world-leading events include the Clipsal 500 (V8 supercar race), Jacob’s Creek Tour Down Under (international cycling race), Festival of Arts, and its streetwise sidekick event The Fringe, Magic Millions Carnival (racing horse sales), Schutzenfest, Royal Adelaide Show, Bushing Festival, Barossa Gourmet, Womadelaide and Cabaret Festival.

The weather forecast
The weather is one of the major contributors to Adelaide’s easygoing way of life. Adelaide’s climate is Mediterranean, with warm, dry summers averaging 29°C and mild winters averaging 15°C.

The summer months are followed by a calm and mild autumn in April and May. The coolest months are June, July and August, with warm spring weather following in September and October.

Wining and dining
Compared with the eastern seaboard capitals, food and wine prices are low. As a rule of thumb, you can expect to pay a third less than at a restaurant of comparable style in Canberra, Sydney or Melbourne

The good life in Adelaide is driven, to a large degree, by the city’s vibrant food and wine culture that has elevated eating to an art form practised by everyone.

Some of Australia’s most creative chefs have chosen Adelaide as the place where they can best fire up their pans and woks and present cuisine that embraces every possible origin, from Argentine to Zambian.

And the city’s pubs, cafes, bistros and restaurants provide every possible atmosphere in which to eat, from formal to jeans and
t-shirt.
